These ceramic sculptures by Manchester, UK artist Anastassia Zamaraeva are a powerful representation of human interactions. Both of these sculptures were created in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests, when tensions were already high due to COVID-19 stay-at-home orders. Zamaraeva provides only this as context in which to interpret this work, leaving the viewer to draw their own conclusions.

Discussion for Kids

When speaking about this work with children, I suggest asking what they think this piece is about. Once you have discussed their response, see if providing the context above changes their interpretation.
